About Deacon Michael McKeating

Deacon Michael McKeating was ordained in the second class of Deacons for the Diocese of Buffalo in 1979. A Navy veteran, he holds a Masters in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville as well as BA, MA and Juris Doctor degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has served as Deputy Erie County Executive, City of Buffalo Assistant Corporation Counsel, and as a State Administrative Law Judge with the Office of Child and Family Services. Since retirement from public service, he has maintained a private legal practice.

Over the past 40 years as Deacon, he has served in catechetical roles in several parishes and officiated at numerous baptisms and marriages. He has chaired the Board of Trustees of St. Mary's High School, Lancaster and has been an officer and Director of Theotokos Ministries and Samaritan House Ministries. He is a former Trustee of Villa MariaCollege and a member of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of WNY. He is a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Orchard Park.

In 2013 Deacon Mike founded Chesterton Academy of Buffalo, the second Chesterton Academy in the country. He served as the first Headmaster and Chairman of the Board. In 2015, he co-founded the Chesterton Network of Schools, which now consists of 15 Chesterton Academies in the U.S. and Canada.

Deacon McKeating is a widower with two children and four grandchildren. His wife of 37 years, Rose McKeating , died in 2005. Deacon Mike has established a scholarship at Chesterton Academy in her memory.
