Our Weekly Prayer Moment will begin shortly.
Please keep our prayer time reflective and holy by keeping your audio on mute during our moment.
Thank you for praying with us this week.
Come Holy Spirit!
Fill the hearts of Your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Your love,
send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray:
R: O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit,
did instruct the hearts of the faithful,
grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise and ever to rejoice in his consolation.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
Today’s Good News Reminder
Mark 13
Jesus said to his disciples: “Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.
It is like the man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his own work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.
Watch, therefore; you do not know when the lord of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning.
May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to all:
“Watch!”
Reflection
In another place in the gospel, Jesus tells us that we do not know the day nor the hour when He will come. He says that He will come like a thief in the night.
Today’s gospel is an apt reminder for our first Sunday of Advent. We can look at His warning to us with great consolation. Rather than being concerned because we do not know when He will come, our Advent season is specifically designed to help us prepare for Christmas Day.
We know when that day will come, and with the whole Church we will be counting down the next 4 weeks with full awareness and anticipation.
Our excitement for that Christmas encounter with our Lord does mean we have some responsibility. And that’s why we should hear Jesus saying: “Be watchful! Be alert!”
He is excited four our Christmas meeting. And he is telling us we have time to make ourselves ready!
This is our GOOD NEWS!
Let us continue our PRAYER MOMENT with petitions and praise.

Dear Jesus,
Thank you for bringing us together for this PRAYER MOMENT. Bless and heal all who are affected by our challenging times, and send your comfort and peace to our school families.
Help us to be watchful during this Advent season as we ready our hearts for our Christmas encounter with you.
And be with all of us as we prepare for the challenges and the joys we will face this coming week.
We ask all of this: In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
